□ KoPHWA has developed the “Workplace Guidelines for Supporting Pregnant Employees” to establish a culture of consideration for pregnant workers. On September 18, offline campaign was held targeting office workers around the headquarters of Namyang Dairy Products in order to raise awareness and promote support for pregnant workers in the workplace.

□ Pregnant women may experience physical and mental difficulties such as morning sickness, excessive fatigue, and depression due to hormonal changes during pregnancy. Excessive exertion or stress can increase the risk of miscarriage, making understanding and consideration for pregnant employees essential in the workplace.

○ According to the 「2024 Survey on Awareness and Practices of Support for Pregnant Women」 conducted by KoPHWA, pregnant employees identified several workplace support needs, including flexible commuting hours and ensuring safer working environments with modified duties. They also emphasized the importance of “emotional support from supervisors and colleagues (25.5%)” and “understanding of physical and emotional changes caused by pregnancy (21.0%)”.

□ Based on these survey findings, the campaign featured various programs designed to help coworkers understand and support pregnant colleagues. These included pregnancy experience activities, surveys on awareness of considerations for pregnant workers and stroller users, and noting guidelines on workplace support for pregnant employees.

○ One participant shared, “It gave me a brief insight into the hardships my wife recently went through during childbirth and deepened my understanding of the challenges faced by pregnant colleagues at work.”

□ KoPHWA President, Samsik Lee stated, “We hope that through online and offline campaign, employees would have gained a better understanding of and respect for pregnant colleagues. KoPHWA will continue its efforts to foster a culture of consideration for pregnant workers across all sectors of society.”
